On a dream and a limited amount of money, my wife (Lori) and I saved and invested to start our own in electrical contracting business. My education and experience was very comprehensive. Countless hours have been spent working with tools, as well as, design and management in the electrical business. In May 1993, I began my education and electrical training with the Joint Electrical Training Apprentice program, located in West Frankfort, IL. I received extensive training in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical services, specializing in fiber optics, Allen Bradley PLCs, and 120V via 7200V electrical systems. In May 1998, I completed the apprenticeship program with 5000 class hours and 8000 working hours.
Russell Electric opened for business in January 2008. Through our personal investment of $5,000.00, I purchased a Generac standby generator, sold it for a profit, and was then paid by the customer to install it. This was an eye opener of how profitable being in business could be. In the previous year, timing was everything in the beginning stages of Russell Electric. Our area experienced a major power outage due to an ice storm. After assisting several emergency calls, Russell Electric came to life and was known by “word of mouth”. Within the first year of business, we made $70,000.00 of generator equipment sales. Nearly all of the profit from every sale was reinvested in the business by buying tools and fuel for my work truck I drove daily. I was very persistent and dedicated to market our business and services to local businesses and gas/convenient stations.
In 2009, I received a call from the owner of a local Sonic restaurant, needing a major renovation and electrical assistance. At that time, I was not aware he was the owner of 58 Sonic chains throughout the tri-state area. From the beginning until now, we have proven our loyalty and hard work all these years. Never making excuses, working together with our customers, a person can trust Russell Electric Contracting, LLC with all their electrical needs. Another regular customer is the Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, IL. They contacted us to submit an estimate and we were awarded the job to add an emergency generator system for the roof top AC system.
