Ella Dolphin, Chief Executive of The Stylist Group was appointed in September 2016 to drive digital transformation and sustainable growth for the formerly known Shortlist Media Ltd. Shortlist Media was a print centric company that pioneered ‘freemium’ – a business model predicated on the free distribution of magazines across the UK’s major cities. Under Ella’s leadership, the business pivoted to focus entirely on the strength of the feminist brand Stylist and rebranded to The Stylist Group, at a time when feminism and the united force of women was never more relevant.
Stylist Magazine was launched as a magazine that treated women differently; intelligently. No paparazzi photos, no gossip, no diets, no mumbo jumbo. Well-researched, thought provoking articles for multifaceted women interested in politics, careers and culture as well as fashion and beauty. Stylist was founded on a fierce desire to be a champion and advocate for women.
Building on this core purpose, Stylist today is a multiplatform, digitally driven brand; encompassing live events, a creative agency Stylist Studios, large scale print and one of the biggest digital platforms for women in the UK, Stylist.co.uk. Whilst the magazine continues to be read by over 400k women every issue, Stylist’s digital platforms now reach a monthly audience of over 4 million. The scale and influence of the Stylist brand helps market thousands of global brands every year with commercial partners keen for brand association. Stylist has proven itself to be an exceptional content marketing asset: an advocate, an activist, a feminist, and all with a loyal & passionate following.
