Building trust empowered Sirio Europe to transform the uncertainty of an acquisition into the catalyst for a change to a ‘culture of innovation and service’
Dr. Dominique Baum, a German and French national, has professional experience spanning some 25 years in management positions of leading pharmaceutical companies. Beginning her career in marketing which sharpened her focus for market trends and product innovation before transferring her business acumen to commercial operations at Solvay, Abbott and Sandoz. Crucially, her career spans positions across varied cultures in India, Singapore and Poland, before returning to Germany in 2018 to take the helm at Sirio Europe /Ayanda. Dr. Baum is a scientist by training and holds a PhD in Nutrition Science from the University of Bonn Germany.
Since joining, she has overseen the transformation of Sirio operations in Europe, as it transitioned to become part of the Sirio Group. Yet it’s the transformation in company culture, ethos and innovation that has really set Baum’s leadership apart.
“When I first arrived in 2018, yes the product quality was already excellent. But I realised that what we needed most as company to grow, was a change of mindset in how we operate and to no longer be content with the way we have worked in the past” commented Dr. Dominique Baum.
The key to Baum’s approach was changing the perspective of the teams, by framing the acquisition as a positive injection for the company and enabling cross-functional alignment. This quickly became a catalyst to improve every facet of the business. Through transparency in all that organisation is trying to achieve and expects, employee confidence and trust were raised, with clarity of objectives provided back to the teams.
