Omar Bilani r. Omar Bilani is a seasoned Senior Executive in the insurance and reinsurance industry with more than 40 years of experience in the MENA region, and GCC countries in particular. He has held executive positions in different insurance and reinsurance companies throughout these years in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lebanon, Turkey, South Africa, and the United Kingdom (UK). Over the past 10 years Mr. Bilani has demonstrated high versatility and strategic depth by leading a renowned multi-cultural insurance group present in multiple jurisdictions in the region. He combines in depth operational and strategic understanding and vision as CEO and Chairman in different companies across different regulatory environments while ensuring proper risk based governance of all companies under management. He holds a Bachelor’s degree (“BA”) in Business Economics from the American University of Beirut (1981) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (“MBA”) from the Lebanese American University, Beirut, Lebanon (1985). Mr. Bilani particularly values loyalty and dedication in developing, maintaining and strengthening relationships with different stakeholders. GMI Network Profile Currently Mr. Bilani holds directorship and executive positions in GroupMed Insurance Network (“GMI Network”) which includes insurance companies in addition to insurance and reinsurance brokerages in different countries. GMI Network was established in 2012 and has expanded over the years from one insurance brokerage license in Lebanon to include 8 regulated entities in different jurisdictions including an insurance brokerage in KSA, a reinsurance brokerage in DIFC UAE, an insurance company in Lebanon, an insurance company and agency in Turkey, an insurance brokerage in South Africa in addition to a brokerage in London. GMI Network has particularly focused on advising and developing seamless insurance and reinsurance solutions tailor made to cater to the complex insurance needs with special focus on: large to mega size construction projects (KSA), telecom business operations (Turkey and South Africa), banking (Lebanon), bancassurance (Lebanon), micro-insurance (Turkey and South Africa) and financial products. In addition to the technical know-how, GMI has extensive knowledge in the regulatory landscapes it has operated in with special focus on governance, compliance and risk management. Brief on some of the entities: DIFC, Dubai: Mr. Bilani is the Chairman and Senior Executive Officer of GroupMed Reinsurance Brokers Limited (“GMRB”), a company incorporated and existing in the Dubai International Financial Centre, Dubai, U.A.E. (“DIFC”) since 2013 and licensed by Dubai Financial Service Authority (“DFSA”) to provide Insurance Intermediation services and Insurance Management services as defined by DIFC and DFSA laws and regulations. GMRB has developed reinsurance solutions between international and regional direct insurers and reinsurers, intermediating on reinsurance placement in both facultative and treaty business and across several lines of business. Lebanon: GMI network exists in Lebanon through its insurance brokerage GroupMed Insurance Brokers –Lebanon S.A.L. (“GMIB”) specialized in in developing bancassurance products through the banking arm of the Group in Lebanon. Moreover, GMI Network has an insurance company GroupMed Insurance and Reinsurance Company S.A.L. (“GMI”) which is regulated by the Insurance Control Commission (“ICC”) at the Ministry of Economy and Trade in Lebanon.
