Also, just look at the plethora of music collaborations currently in the music charts, and to me this emphasises the need to collaborate, reinvent and continually view challenges through a different lens. I set out at an early age to contin- ually reinvent myself. I achieved this by moving from an account- ing background, through TQM and operational excellence, through to procurement and supply chain transformations, through to programme deliv- ery excellence to digital enter- prise transformation expertise The Need For Continuous Reinvention I believe in this disruptive era that business leaders today need to reinvent themselves in line with the rapid life cycle changes that operate within and adjacent to their business sectors. Personally, I have taken a lead in my career from the music and sports sectors where there is a continual need to reinvent one’s self and to continually chase the moving target of excellence, when the standard for excellence continuously moves at a fast pace. You can view this at a number of levels; look at how quickly music and sports streaming and the Premier League global brand radically changed these industries. On another level you can look at individuals like David Bowie, Lady Ga Ga and Miley Ray Cyrus who continually reinvented themselves to remain JAMES FINTAIN LAWLER CEO & Founder of Digital Alchemist Consulting Services International Ltd in a professional services environment. This passion for reinventing myself has taken me on an odyssey to operate in many countries, in numerous C level roles and into a number of business sectors. I am grateful that I had the foresight to recognise the need for lifelong learning. In my humble opinion, you cannot think global and act local if you don’t have a deep knowledge of both environments. During my career as a C level executive, I have held a number of board-level positions in Fortune 100 / FTSE 100 companies, and I have also actively supported the UK Government’s digital inclusivity agenda. I have held most of the key C level posi- tions including CFO, CTO & CSC&PO including being a Part- ner for one of the big 4 global firms. These senior executive positions have been with Xerox Corporation, PwC, TELUS, Reckitt Benckiser, Quaker Oats (PepsiCo), BOC, Accenture, and the UK Government. My experience also includes being the CEO of a successful start-up telecommunications company. Your life and career should be more of an Odyssey than a mere Journey My business career has been more of an Odyssey than a journey. For me the word journey understates what is required to be successful in life and in your career. For me a journey is getting on a plane in London and arriving in Vancouver. Making your career an odyssey brings adventure, excitement and As the CEO; Digital Alchemist Consulting Services International Ltd, I am proud to accept the 2019 CEO Today Global Award.
