Hunt was inspired to develop Engineered Infection Prevention technology after a 2009 World Health Organization report showedCanada had the highest HAI rate in the developed world. More than 1 in 10 patients develop an HAI and 1 in 20 HAI patients die. Barry couldn’t bear the thought of 200,000 patients infected and 10,000 deaths annually. Fast- forward to today, in Canada, Engineered Infection Prevention is rapidly becoming a mainstream design element for new hospital construction. The company is also focussed on the U.S. market, with 1.7M HAIs and 100,000 annual HAI deaths.
