Hunt has led technology innovation in many areas of healthcare for the past 35 years including the design, development and implementation of new products, processes and services in infection prevention, anesthesia, respiratory, medical gases, and healthcare facility engineering. Barry received his Honour’s degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from the University of Guelph and studied Post-Degree Sciences at the University of Waterloo where he conducts the majority of his research today. He believes in working collaboratively and empowering others to develop and implement solutions. Hunt started his first company, Class 1 Inc., in his basement and grew the company through innovation and vertical integration to achieve a presence in 80% of Canadian hospitals. Atlas Copco, the world’s largest compressor company, recently acquired Class 1 Inc. to become the leading medical gas equipment provider in Canada and to globally commercialize the company’s award- winning GHG capture technology for inhalation anesthetics, and on-site oxygen production technology, developed under Hunt’s guidance. Hunt’s current company, Prescient x , develops and markets infection prevention technologies to Canada, the U.S. and U.K. Barry’s commitment to working collaboratively has resulted in ground- breaking progress in the fight against hospital acquired infections and promises to transform the infection prevention industry.
